Pushkar |
|
According to Hindu
mythology, Lord Brahma, the Creator of the Universe, chose
Pushkar as the site for performing a Yajna (sacrificial
rites). Countless devotees visit Pushkar, which is considered
as one of the most holy lands in India. The devotees wash away
their sins by bathing in the holy waters at Pushkar. The town
has fifty-two bathing ghats for the purpose.
Places of Interest in Pushkar
Unlike the devotees, what attracts the foreign tourists to
this land is the famous Pushkar Fair. This is basically a
cattle fair but camels and horses are also traded in the fair
along with the cattle. Cattle and camel races add to the
excitement. Competitions and cultural programmes are organized
and it is unmistakably the time for merrymaking.
