Chittaurgarh
resonates with tales of romance and passion, chivalry and
heroism. This battle scarred city was defeated and destroyed
three times, men died on the battlefield and women committed
mass suicide by jumping into a huge funeral pyre to save their
dignity.

The prime attractions are the Chittaurgarh Fort (built in the
7th century, it spans 700 acres and encircles magnificent
examples of Rajput architecture including Rana Kumbha's Palace
and Rani Padmini's Palace), Vijay Stambh (Tower of Victory),
Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame) and Kalika Mata Temple (built in
the 8th century as the Sun Temple, it was dedicated to the
Kali, the goddess courage and power).
